What Essential Tremors Could be a Sign of with Joon Faii Ong

Flat vector illustration of a tremor. Trembling in the hands-symptoms of various mental disorders, panic, fear, Parkinson’s disease. Isolated design on a white background.

Dr. Joon Faii Ong is a recognized expert on Essential Tremors. He explained that many forms of Tremors could affect people with Parkinson’s Disease or Essential Tremors, which is Dr. Ong’s area of expertise. Essential Tremors can also affect people with Parkinson’s Disease or those who have had a stroke or some type of brain injury, such as traumatic brain injury (TBI).

Essential tremor is the most common movement disorder, and it affects approximately 10 percent of persons over age 65. This type of tremor has no other symptoms than trembling or shaking. Therefore, it is sometimes simply referred to as a “benign tremor.” There are many forms of Essential Tremors, but they all share these three key features:

  • Involuntary shaking of the hands when they are at rest.
  • Tremors increase with action, such as moving the arms or holding a cup.
  • Tremor intensity decreases when the hand grips an object tightly.

Essential Tremors can be an indicator of several other conditions that can affect the brain or other parts of the body, including:

Parkinson’s Disease

Tremors that indicate Parkinson’s Disease often begin on one side of the body and affect the hand, arm, or leg. They can also cause a shuffling gate when walking.

Stroke

Following a stroke, some people experience tremors as part of their recovery process. These tremors usually do not manifest until several weeks after the initial incident and are known as “post-stroke” tremors.

Post-Traumatic Brain Injury

Post-traumatic or acquired brain injuries can also cause a form of tremor known as a “mild TBI,” which stands for mild traumatic brain injury. This type of injury can result from a one-time event, such as a fall, accident, sports injury, or car accident.

Brain Tumors

Tremors can also indicate the presence of brain tumors. If you have a tremor and experience other symptoms, such as mood swings, coordination problems, or vision changes, seek immediate medical attention to rule out these potential causes.

Multiple Sclerosis (MS)

Multiple sclerosis is a degenerative central nervous system disorder. The effects and symptoms of MS can vary widely from person to person and range from numbness, lack of coordination, and blurred vision to tremors and unconscious or uncontrolled movement, such as spasticity or dystonia.

Friedreich’s Ataxia

Friedreich’s ataxia is an inherited disorder of the nervous system. Symptoms can include impaired balance, lack of coordination, and tremors or “shaky” hands.

Dystonia

People with dystonia experience uncontrollable movements of the limbs, torso, face, and vocal cords. These involuntary muscle contractions may cause significant pain and lead to abnormal postures ranging from slight tilts of the head or neck turns to full body contortions. Dystonia is usually more noticeable during times of stress and can result from several potential causes, including:

  • Injury or trauma that affects the central nervous system.
  • Genetic abnormalities present from birth cause progressive degeneration of certain areas of the brain.
  • A side-effect from medications, such as antipsychotic drugs, antibiotics, and chemotherapy agents.

Intensive English Program – Northwestern Polytechnic University

Northwestern Polytechnic University (NPU) announced it had received accreditation by the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation (CEA), the only specialized, independent U.S. national assessment organization that sets standards for English programs in higher education institutions.

The Council recognizes the CEAA for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

NPU’s Intensive English Program (IEP) will now be included in CHEA’s Accredited Postsecondary Institutions and Programs database.

This is significant because the IEP has become an integral part of NPU’s success, as more than 1,000 students enroll annually to study English for academic purposes.

The IEP collaborates with the university’s academic programs to provide students with additional learning opportunities through orientation sessions, presentations, and guest speakers. Students also participate in workshops and activities during their free time for further cultural integration and communication.

Helping Non-English Speaking Students Succeed

According to The Institute of International Education’s (IIE) 2015 Open Doors Report, the number of international students in the United States has tripled over a decade—increasing 5 percent from 723,277 international students studying at all levels in the U.S. during the 2014-2015 academic year to a record high of more than one million students.

This increase reflects the growing demand for English language training for international students across the nation. NPU’s IEP is a key part of the university’s mission to provide English language training and American educational opportunities to students worldwide.

IEP students come from more than 90 countries, with an increasing number coming from China, followed by India, Saudi Arabia, and South Korea. Providing students with an authentic learning environment that addresses the varying academic needs of non-native English speakers is vital to their success.

To help maintain this standard, NPU provides educational resources and support that help students reach their potential. The IEP offers four levels of instruction: pre-beginner, beginner, intermediate and advanced. Students can enroll in courses up to five times per week on campus or online. They are also provided access to textbooks, laptops, language assessment tests, and student portals.

In addition to the IEP’s academic program, students have access to other services on campus, including housing, dining facilities, and recreational activities. The university also supports faculty members who are dedicated to teaching English as a second language.

Meeting the Needs of Silicon Valley Employers

In recent years, the demand for English language training has increased from students entering colleges and universities and from corporations seeking to develop a bilingual workforce.

Silicon Valley is one of the major hubs in the U.S., where companies have been on a hiring spree over the past few years – creating a huge demand for international talent. In addition, large corporations, including Apple, IBM, and Google, have hired foreign workers because of the language barrier.

Many universities have created English learning programs to train for a higher degree simultaneously in response to this demand. The IEP has partnered with several major colleges and universities in Silicon Valley to prepare students for these opportunities. These partnerships have added to the university’s success in meeting the educational needs of international students.

How Green Technology is Changing Commercial Construction – Reddy Kancharla

Green technology can be used to solve commercial construction problems through new materials and added efficiencies in building/repairing structures. However, it would be most helpful if green technologies were developed to address specific issues in commercial construction rather than continue with a “one size fits all” approach often adopted by green technology developers today.

To illustrate this point further, here are ten green technology solutions that civil engineer Reddy Kancharla thinks could help cut costs or improve project performance. Some of these are already being applied on some projects, but they do not seem widespread enough to impact commercial construction performance significantly.

1. Use of precast concrete for wood frame construction

The use of precast concrete to replace wood in the structural framing is an innovation that has been adopted rather slowly by industry, even though it can result in a faster erection, savings in labor costs, and improved durability. This would be especially helpful to developers who wish to complete their projects quickly since they could eliminate many connection details involved with timber framing. It also means less waste because there are no scraps left over after the components are cut out, reducing landfill contributions by eliminating plywood and sawdust waste disposal.

2. Integrating solar technology into roofs

Green building codes mandate the inclusion of green infrastructure that will optimize the building’s energy consumption. For example, if solar collection devices, such as panels or daylighting systems, can be easily integrated into roofs and other flat surfaces of commercial buildings, they could significantly reduce the consumption of conventional fuels by a factor of four or even eight times.

3. Use broad-based renewable resources for power

The use of coal and oil to generate large amounts of electricity is a practice that increases pollution levels and health concerns in the environment around us. Therefore, the use of these resources for non-critical infrastructure projects could be eliminated through green technologies that focus on using renewables such as wind, water, and sun to generate electricity. This would also reduce carbon dioxide emissions from cars since less power would need to come from those sources.

4. More energy-efficient windows that can be installed quickly

Windows are an important part of buildings designed to ensure the best use of natural light, but they account for 25% or more of a building’s energy costs. Therefore, they are one area where increasing efficiency has the potential to provide significant results in reducing total project costs. A quick installation process would also be needed since construction firms need to complete their projects within time constraints.

5. Smaller form factor devices with better performance

The size and weight limitations on electronic control systems have led to the development of smaller, less powerful power supplies over the past decade. Still, this trend should reverse itself as green technologies develop. As a result, building owners could benefit from an increase in power supply size and a reduction in the number of devices needed. In addition, building systems would become more reliable since there would be less need for backup power supplies on each project.

6. Solar-powered air conditioning equipment

Air conditioning is one of the most significant energy consumers in many buildings today, accounting for about 40% of their total electricity usage. The use of solar power to reduce the costs associated with cooling buildings could therefore make a large impact over time if it can be applied during new construction or retrofitting processes. It could also help developers get their product to market faster by making it easier to meet green and LEED requirements and cut back on certification delays.

YouTube Trends to Watch in 2022 – TubeKarma Reviews

YouTube is a place where trends come and go, but some trends are here to stay. Join us as we discuss the future of video sharing on YouTube. So, do you want to know what YouTube trends will still be trending in 2022? TubeKarma Reviews says these trends will be hot in 2022:

1. Creative Vlogs

Viewers love to learn new things, and nothing excites them more than learning about something they never knew before. So yes, the future is bright for creative YouTubers who make educational videos or vlogs.

2. Vlogging Cameras

YouTube videographers who only use smartphones will become extinct someday. Why? Because smartphones are not made for capturing great videos. Creating great vlogs is all about the camera, and thus, YouTube videographers will eventually migrate to using video cameras designed for vlogging.

3. 360 Degree Viewing

This trend will become even more popular in 2022 than it is in 2021. Let’s face it; viewers love to feel like they are right there with their favorite YouTube creator. So in the future, watching a 360-degree video will be as easy as pressing play on a 2D video now.

4. More engagement from viewers

In 2022, uploading videos to your channel and then forgetting about them will not work. Engagement (likes and comments) is an important part of YouTube’s success. Advertisers want to advertise on popular videos with high engagement. It’s simply a numbers game; the more likes and views you have, the easier it will be for advertisers to spot your channel.

5. Larger audiences

As viewers flock to YouTubers who create engaging content, the bigger producers (such as Walk Off The Earth) will want to create even better content. This is great news for viewers because they are in for some incredible videos!

6. VR video experiences

YouTube viewers love VR, and the future of VR is bright. YouTube just announced that there are now over 1 million 360 degree videos on their channel. Sure, the technology will get smaller and more affordable with each passing year. Combine this increased affordability with increased availability, and it is easy to see how VR video viewing will explode by 2022. 7. Live stream channels One favorite pastime of YouTube channel owners is live streaming events on their channel. Live streaming gives audiences a chance to feel like they are part of an event – even when they are miles away. Live stream events are growing in popularity, and the trend will continue to grow into 2022.

8. More social media integration

Social media is an excellent way for YouTube channels to increase their audience, but it’s also a great way for viewers to engage with other viewers. In other words, viewers will be able to engage and comment on each other’s live streams and videos in 2022 more than ever before. This increased social media integration is already happening today, so why should we expect less in 2022?

9. Higher quality equipment

Viewers tend not just to watch videos; instead, they consume them like fine chocolate gourmet food – slowly and carefully! As such, the future of YouTube is bright for videographers who create HD videos. There’s no doubt that HD video will be the standard in 2022, so videographers had better start investing in high-quality equipment now.

Exciting Research in the Field of Biology – Steven Rinder

The biological sciences are an ever-evolving field, with discoveries made daily. Biology major Steven Rinder has identified some exciting discoveries and research in biology you should be aware of:

1. Discovering new species

A new species of sea slug has been discovered. The first terrestrial animal found to absorb and metabolize nitrogen from the air. This adaptation will allow it to live in an environment with very little soil, as it can use the resources available in its surroundings to survive.

2. Spider Senses

In a recent experiment, spiders were shown to learn by watching and observing the behavior of other spiders. The results were published in Scientific Reports, and it is exciting because it shows that spiders may have social learning skills, which have never been recorded before.

3. Electricity from Sound

Scientists at MIT have created a system that can turn sound waves into electricity. This technology can create energy from any sound, such as music, conversations, and even human movement. In addition, it can power multiple devices at once.

4. The World’s First Gene-Edited Babies

A Chinese scientist named He Jiankui claims that he was recently able to create gene-editing in twin girls born in November 2018. The research was done on embryos with the CRISPR-Cas9 technique, but the embryos were not allowed to grow past the 8-cell stage to achieve this goal.

5. Spider Silk for Human Use

Humans use silkworms in the production of silk. However, spiders make their silk. Researchers at MIT have recently learned how to re-create spider silk in labs, and it is stronger than steel yet softer than human hair. It can also potentially be used in medical settings to assist wound healing due to its hardiness against blood clotting.

6. Scientist Finds Parasitic Worm DNA Remains after Insect Consumption

A scientist has discovered that parasitic worms can stay alive in the digestive system of insect eaters. The study was published in Nature Communications, showing that these worms can manipulate the behavior of their hosts so they can use them for reproduction.

7. Helping Blind People See Color

A lab at MIT is developing a new device called an ‘eyeshade’ which has electrodes capable of stimulating cells inside human eyes to allow people with color blindness to see colors normally. This device will also be used for other purposes, such as assisting with cell loss in retinal degeneration disorders like age-related macular degeneration (AMD).

8. New Insights into How Cells Divide and Die in Brain Tumors

Researchers have recently discovered that when brain tumors start, they do not arise from stem cells but rather specialized non-stem cells in the brain. These findings were published in Nature Cell Biology, and it may mean that current cancer treatments could be more effective on some tumors if this new knowledge is implemented.

9. Colon Cancer Can Be Detected with Blood Testing

Researchers at Johns Hopkins University discovered a new biomarker that can predict colon cancer before symptoms appear. Testing of the blood could predict whether or not patients would develop colon cancer for eight years; eventually, it could not predict anything after three years because the test was too accurate. This discovery allows doctors to detect problems early and save lives during routine checkups.

How Much Does a Fence Cost? A Guide for Homeowners

Owning a home comes with many benefits that simply cannot be overlooked. For example, it’s widely known as being one of the most efficient ways to increase your net worth.

You also have peace of mind knowing that you are in full control over the property that you live at. Making home improvements is simply part of owning a house, and many people choose to upgrade the fences on their property. But, how much does a fence cost?

Let’s take a look at what you can expect to spend.

Materials

As you might guess, the materials that you use for your fence will play a large role in how much it costs to install. For example, using welded wire mesh is often much cheaper than using wood.

However, using wrought iron to achieve a rustic, antiquated look will be more expensive. If you are looking to save as much money as possible, you should aim for the most basic design. Otherwise, you should be prepared to spend a bit more to get the results that you want.

Fence Height

When it comes to the price of residential fencing, fence height plays a significant role. As you might guess, taller fences require more materials, which means that you will spend more money.

Additionally, adding tall fences might significantly increase your labor costs. Looking for more ideas about the best fence installation options for your home? You can check out this resource by All American Fence and Gate to learn more.

Square Footage

The price of home fencing is heavily impacted by square footage. In fact, most companies charge per foot when it comes to calculating costs.

The average homeowner won’t have too much to worry about in terms of staying within their budget. For those who own a large property, though, these costs can quickly add up.

For example, imagine if you owned more than one acre of land and wished to install a fence around its perimeter. You will pay exponentially more money compared to a conventional homeowner.

Labor

Unless you plan on building your fence on your own, you’ll need to pay someone to do it for you. Labor costs will vary from contractor to contractor, but they will more than likely end up serving as the bulk of your fence expenses.

The good news, though, is that working with a contracting agency can easily save you plenty of time and stress. When searching for one, be sure that you consider their past reputation.

This is the only way that you can help determine the results that you will achieve.

So, How Much Does a Fence Cost?

The answer to this question will depend on the above factors.

In most situations, you can expect to spend around $1500 to install a basic 150-foot wooden fence. If you’re looking to install a large privacy fence, however, you will need to spend more on both materials and labor. Keep this answer to “how much does a fence cost”  in mind so that you can make the decision best for you.

9 Top Ideas for Cottage Remodeling

Did you know that home renovations provide a 70% return on investment? This means that cottage remodeling is not only a whole lot of fun and beneficial for you right now, but it will also pay off when you sell in the future.

Fantastic, right? So, with that in mind, what are the best cottage renovations to spruce up your home away from home while also adding value?

Keep reading for nine incredible cottage remodeling ideas that you can start working on today!

1. Spruce Up the Doors

Splashing a fresh coat of paint on your cottage doors is one of the best renovations for maximum effect and minimum cost. Cottages are usually quaint and quirky, cozy and inviting — and you can enhance these aesthetics with doors to match.

Consider updating the color and painting your door a bold hue such as red, blue, or yellow. For a seaside cottage, perhaps a whimsical blue? For a cottage sitting on a flower-lined lane, a bold red door will stand out.

Pick up some vintage and antique handles or eclectic door knockers to finish off the look.

2. Update the Kitchen

It goes without saying that a kitchen remodel is one of the top house renovations to add value to any home. Don’t be too intimidated by the huge job. You can do a huge remodel if you have the budget, time, and nerves for it, however, a mini update works a treat, too.

Consider replacing appliances with modern versions and making small but impactful changes, such as updating the cabinet doors.

A cottage kitchen is the heart of the home, so use this opportunity to re-decorate and have fun.

3. Revamp the Bathroom

A kitchen and bath remodel is truly the double whammy – adding instant value to any home. Much like with the kitchen, start with the small things and the most important things. For example, if you have any plumbing issues then this should be a top priority.

If all of your pipes are in working order then begin with a new coat of paint, replace the cabinets and sinks, and think about personal touches to smaller fixtures.

4. Landscape the Yard

Curb appeal is extremely important. What is the point of having a picture-perfect cottage that sits in a messy, unappealing environment? This is pleasant for you, and it decreases the value of your property, too.

Put a little love into your yard, if you have one. You could hire a professional landscaper or get to work yourself. Even if you don’t have a lot of space to work with, you could create a beautiful little path up to the cottage or surround the house with flower beds. Designing a cottage starts from the moment it comes into view.

5. Give Floors New Life

Has your cottage still got the grubby carpets that are as old as the structure itself? If yes, it’s time to rip those suckers up and breathe some new life into the floors. Even if you’re not sporting an ancient carpet, think about how you can update your floors to match the aesthetic of your cottage.

Wooden floors make a wonderful addition to cottage decor, as do stone and slate tiles. Start with the most important room in the cottage, for example, the living room, and you’ll see what a difference new floors make.

6. Think (and Remodel) Smart

When you’re doing cottage renovations you need to always be thinking about the changes and additions you can make for smarter living. This will not only make your life easier but it future proofs the cottage for when you eventually want to sell it.

Think about voice-controlled thermostats or programmable lights, for example. You don’t have to give your cottage a complete futuristic makeover. Rather, when you need to replace something, try to find the smart option.

7. Make the Most of the Views

Many cottages are situated in idyllic spots. Perhaps you have mountains surrounding your vacation spot, views of the sea, or even just lush greenery to admire. Try to come up with new ideas to make the most of the views.

Perhaps you can replace your windows with larger frames for uninterrupted views, or swap out your old doors for huge sliding pocket doors that create a wonderful indoor-outdoor living experience.

Get creative with different ways that you can appreciate the view and use it as natural decor enhancement in each room.

8. Don’t Forget About the Walls

No cottage remodeling is complete without showing your walls a bit of attention. First of all, a new coat of paint can do wonders in breathing new life into a space. If you’re ready for a bit of a change, consider a new color palette or a cottage-style wallpaper.

You can also add some texture and rustic aesthetic to your cottage decor with wooden wall trims or beaded board walls.

Remember to keep it simple, don’t let the floors, wall and overall decor compete with one another for attention.

9. Restyle the Decor

If you’re looking to jazz up your cottage with a remodel, then why not start with simply updating the decor. Choose a cottage theme and run with it. Depending on your budget you can invest in new furniture and really splash out.

However, if your budget is tight then there are plenty of affordable changes you can make. Buy some new scatter cushions and throws, peruse second-hand markets for charming pieces, and get creative with the decor.

Are You Ready to Begin Your Cottage Remodeling Project?

Wow, there are plenty of amazing cottage remodeling ideas that you can get started on right away. Renovating your cottage doesn’t need to be a huge and expensive job. You can make small changes with a fresh coat of paint and a little creativity that will add a lot of value to your home away from home.

Green Thumb: Do These Things And Your Indoor Plants Will Love You

Do you have a black thumb instead of a green one? Well, then you’ve come to the right place.

Being a plant parent isn’t always easy. One day you’re watering it with care, and the next it’s mysteriously dead. But not to worry because this guide will help to make sure that never happens again.

Keep reading to learn a few plant care tips that will give you a green thumb.

Water With Care

Not all plants are created equal.

In fact, every plant needs a different amount of water to keep it alive. So to avoid overwatering or underwatering (both are bad), look up the recommended amount of water for that specific plant. And note that their needs change depending on the season, so you may have to reassess how much you water it.

Pro tip: can’t remember to water your plant? Set a reminder on your phone!

Know the Right Sunlight

Just like water, every plant needs a different amount of sunlight. So when researching your plant, look up what it likes and if it needs direct or indirect sunlight.

The plant’s sunlight needs will determine the best place for it in your home. For example, many sun-loving plants thrive right next to a sunny window. But if your house is dark, don’t worry because there are some plants that don’t need sun.

Prune It Real Good

Pruning is just trimming your plant.

And while it may sound bad to cut up your plant, it’s a necessary step in keeping it healthy! When pruning, you want to remove any overgrown parts and dead or diseased leaves.

If your plant has thicker branches, use pruning shears. But if its branches are thinner, it’s best to use regular scissors.

Repot It

You should repot your plant every 12 to 18 months.

But if you’re unsure when to repot it, look at the roots. If they’re growing out of the top of the planter or through the drainage holes, it’s time. You should also consider repotting if the plant is super top-heavy, growing very slowly, or dries out too quickly.

Add Some CO2

Let’s talk science for a minute.

Plants need CO2 to complete the process of photosynthesis. So, adding CO2 bottles to your plants can help maximize growth and yield. However, note that this is a practice you should consider if you want to create a grow room or a greenhouse.

Pro tip: you can buy a co2 meter, which will tell you exactly how much CO2 is in the grow room!

Do You Have a Green Thumb Yet?

There may be a few dead plants in your past. But if you follow these tips, you’re sure to grow a green thumb and raise some beautiful plants in the future. And when your plants see you coming from now on, they’ll know they’re in good hands.

How Do Structured Settlements Work? Here’s What to Know About Payments

Are you avoiding suing for your injuries because you don’t want to deal with the process of going to court? Lucky for you, the number of civil cases that settle before going to trial is high.

Some estimate the percentage to be as high as 95% or more. Instead of having your day in court, you might get compensated through a structured settlement.

How do structured settlements work exactly? Keep reading to find out.

How Do Structured Settlements Work?

Sometimes a civil case is settled through a structured settlement. These cases involve the plaintiff, aka the person who was wronged, and the defendant. The defendant is usually a company who caused harm but might also be an individual.

The structured settlement agreement process starts when the plaintiff sues the defendant to seek compensation for an illness, injury, or death that the defendant caused.

A defendant can agree to give money through a structured settlement to avoid going to court. If the case ends up in trial, the defendant might be forced to set up a settlement if they lose the case.

Once there is a verdict, the defendant and plaintiff work to determine the terms of the structured settlement by using a qualified assignee. The agreement will determine the following:

  • How much regular payments should be
  • How long regular payments should continue for
  • If payments should increase at certain times

So, how does a structured settlement work with an insurance company? The qualified assignee will purchase an annuity from a life insurance company to match the settlement needs.

The insurance company will pay the plaintiff a series of payments according to the annuity contract. Once these terms are set, they cannot be changed.

This means that the only way to receive payments ahead of schedule is by selling the structured settlement.

Should I Sell My Structured Settlement?

“I have a structured settlement but don’t know if I should sell it for cash.”

This is a common thought for those who have a structured settlement but need quick cash. The idea of getting cash for a structured settlement is beneficial in some circumstances.

If you are having an emergency crisis that requires funds, getting cash for your structured settlement might not be a bad idea. However, if you just need spending money, you’ll be better off keeping your contract.

You won’t get the full price of your structured settlement if you decide to sell it, but you can sell a portion instead of giving up all of your payments. You’ll have to follow steps, including a court approval process, to receive a payout.

Learn about Rightway Funding and their structured settlement offers to decide if selling is right for you.

What to Expect From a Structured Settlement

So, how do structured settlements work? As the plaintiff, you can sue for injury, illness, and death to receive compensation. If the defendant wants to avoid court, they can work with you on a structured settlement agreement.

Unless you choose to sell your structured settlement, you’ll receive regular payments over time. Rather than one lump sum of cash, you’ll be provided with financial security to pay for injuries and damages.

The Brief Guide That Makes Improving Workplace Safety Simple

Roughly 275 workers died every day in the year 2019. That means even more experienced moderate to severe injuries while on the job. Many people work high-risk jobs that require vital safety training.

However, even the simplest job can lead to injuries. So, even if you manage an office space, you must implement workplace safety. If you do not keep your employees safe, it could lead to injuries.

Not to mention they might file a lawsuit against you or the company. To prevent these things from happening, check out our top tips for improving safety standards at your job.

Train Employees

The first thing you want to do is train your employees on workplace safety. Training might be more critical depending on the company. For instance, if you work in a factory, your workers must take safety courses.

However, even if you have a low-stakes job, you want everyone to remain knowledgeable about staying safe. So, gather your team and enroll in safety training courses at least once per year.

Wear Proper Gear

Many accidents happen because the employees are not wearing the proper uniforms. If you work in a dangerous environment, you want everyone to be easily seen.

That means wearing colorful vests and goggles. That way, they stand out from the equipment.

Reward Employees

Positive rewards encourage good behavior within the workplace. So, set up a small rewards program within your company. If your employees follow all the safety training protocols, they receive a reward.

These incentives do not have to be anything drastic. You could offer gift cards or even a day off of work. Even small things like verbal praise will be enough to incentivize a worker to keep up the good work.

Clean Up

Don’t leave anything lying around. That will eventually lead to someone tripping and falling. If there is anything left on the floor, be sure to pick it up.

If you work at a construction site, make sure your employees know to pick up everything around the area. That way, no one falls or cuts themselves on sharp objects.

Use Signs

Signs are the easiest way to communicate with people. They tell us to watch out for wet floors or hazardous materials. Put up a sign for anything that may pose a threat to your staff.

Not to mention that signs can help if you end up in a lawsuit. If someone hurts themselves with no sign present, you might be liable for their injuries.

For More Workplace Safety Tips

There are several things you can do to ensure workplace safety. Remember, rewarding your workers will cultivate positive workplace culture. You should also train your employees, clean the premises, and use clear signage.

So long as you follow these protocols, you can minimize injuries and increase employee happiness. We hope this article helps you learn more about the importance of company safety.

If you enjoyed reading about these tips and tricks, we invite you to continue reading our blog. We have many more posts about how to keep your employees safe and sound.
