What You Need To Know Before Replacing A Bathtub With A Shower

If you’ve decided to switch over from a bathtub to a shower, you’ll need to take a moment to carefully plan your transition. Luckily, that’s just what we’re going to help you out with here in this post.

In this article, we’ll go over the cost of replacing your bathtub with a shower, the spacing and placement, the materials and much more.

Cost of Remodelling From a Tub to a Shower

When deciding to remodel, homeowners must decide whether they wish to tackle this matter by themselves or hire a professional contractor for the job. It’s expensive to pay for a plumber’s labor, but it’s even more costly if you make any mistakes, which is something that damages your plumbing.

To get started, here are the areas you need to consider when it comes to cost:

  • Changing the pipes: The cost of replacing old or outdated with either copper or PEX could vary depending on how much needs to be changed. Plumbers might charge you anywhere between $45 to $150 per hour.
  • Tiles: Using ceramic tiles to tile your shower could cost about $1.30 per square foot. Specialty tiles, on the other hand, can stretch as much as $20 per square foot.
  • Dry rot or any other problems around the tub space: Check for any dry rot or any other issue that may have accumulated around your tub space over the years. If your tub has had a water leakage problem during that time, then it’s best you get it replaced with a shower soon before it damages your floor.
  • Fixtures: If you crave a luxury experience, then we suggest special fixtures like height-adjustable or rainfall showerheads. These high-quality fixtures can be anywhere around a couple of hundred dollars.
  • Door: A basic sliding door can cost you anywhere between $100 to $300 plus installation. You can even choose glass doors that are tinted or textured if your pockets are deeper.

Spacing & Placement

It’s pretty simple to install your new walk-in shower, especially when doing so in the same space as where your bathtub once was. Not to mention, the water supply and drain lines are already there in place. But when it concerns moving plumbing, you may need to hire a plumber for the occasion, which will obviously add to the cost.

Amount of Spacing Required for a Walk-in Shower

  • At least 80 inches in height.
  • At least 30 x 30 inches of floor space.
  • At least 21 inches between the front of your toilet and the shower wall
  • At least 15 inches between your toilet’s side and the shower wall
  • If you’re thinking about getting a swinging door, be sure to consider the swing.

Look for Materials

Materials are the next thing on your list after spacing. For this, you’ll require

  • Screwdriver
  • Plywood to protect wood
  • Utility knife and putty knife
  • Wrench and/or Allen wrench
  • Prybar
  • Jigsaw
  • Reciprocating saw or drywall saw

You should also think of renting out a 10-yard dumpster to dispose of your bathtub in as many cities won’t accept bathtubs for curbside pickup. And even if they do, you’ll need to wait for a monthly or yearly bulk collection day.

Remove Your Tub

Now the action begins. Use these steps to remove your bathtub:

  1. Detach any screws or nails the connect your tub to wall studs.
  2. A utility knife is suitable for cutting through any caulk between the tub and the floor.
  3. Use a prybar to pry your tub a couple of inches from the wall.
  4. Get someone to help you and then use a prybar to pry up one end of your tub and then maneuver it upright. Make sure it fits through your doors.
  5. Or, you can cut through the middle of the tub using a jigsaw to put it into two pieces. Pry each one of them up and maneuver it until you’re able to slide it out of its space.
  6. Toss your old tub in the dumpster and then repair the drywall you cut away.

Install Your Shower

Now the last thing to do is to install your shower, which you can do by either calling your plumber or use your shower stall kit for the job.

Live Chat Strategies to Make Your Call Center Solution a Success

If your organization is dedicated to providing the best customer service experiences possible, as it should be, then you’ve likely considered ways to improve your customer support call center. After all, consumers are known to switch to competitors when they feel they’ve received poor service from their initial choice, and customer service is becoming more important than product quality and price for many. A 2018 report revealed that poor customer service can cost businesses up to $75 billion a year, a significant rise since a similar 2016 report. The explanation for “serial switching” is that customers don’t feel appreciated or are unable to speak with anyone able to adequately answer their concerns. Companies are failing to provide the positive environment that encourages customer loyalty. This means a company that wants to be successful must constantly improve their customer’s experiences to stay ahead of the competition.

Conversational IVR

A basic step to creating the best call center service is to reduce the amount of effort the consumer must exert. Interactive voice response (IVR) software has been doing just that by allowing customers to choose options from a menu to reach the appropriate department for their needs. Recently, conversational IVR has taken this concept to the next level.

Conversational IVR uses AI to deliver smarter, easier, and more efficient service. This technology has benefits for both the customers and the company. Customers are able to simply say what they want, eliminating the need to use a touchpad or memorize options. Many conversational IVR packages also make it simple to collect customer data in order to better understand their behavior and form actionable insights. Thus, customers have a better experience with the technology, and companies are able to more effortlessly engage with consumers and analyze feedback.

Chat software benefits

When limited to phones, like in a traditional call center, a finite amount of agents and long wait times can easily add up to frustration for the customer. This is exacerbated by the fact that a call center is a last resort for many. Consumers are constantly thinking about new ways to contact support, and roughly 75 percent would prefer online options. While the phone only lets agents handle one situation at a time, live chat opens them up to potentially address three to five concerns at once.

Live chat offers the time-saving options of automated greetings and, where appropriate, automated responses, while also letting agents quickly look up customer histories and potential problem solutions at a glance to effectively solve issues. These advantages help service reps circumvent the need to diffuse situations with irritated customers.

Making live chat more effective

Data reveals that customers are up to 52 percent more likely to repurchase from companies that use live chat. There are many ways to go beyond the bare minimum for live chat and make it more effective. One option is to provide customers with a transcript of the interaction. This ensures that information the customer was given doesn’t get lost, and having records of a positive experience can make the customer think better of your company. You can also allow customers to browse your site for a set period of time before they are asked to engage in chat options. Some customers may not initiate a chat, but when given the opportunity, they may decide to interact with support. Additionally, training agents to know when to use a chat transfer is crucial. A single agent can’t reasonably be expected to know everything, and there’s no shame in admitting that. Positive customer experience should always be a top priority.

7 Posing Tips to Look Your Best in Photos

Having a beautiful face, glowing skin, and excellent physique will take you places if you want to be a print model. When you have all three traits, you will have better chances of getting amazing photographs all the time. This will help you stand out and land the best modeling jobs for teenagers.

Knowing how to pose in front of the camera will also ensure you look great in all your photos. When you look fabulous in every shot, your agent and photographer will have no qualms recommending you to other clients. Your chances of working with the same brands repeatedly will be higher as well.

If you want to be a print model but still haven’t mastered the art of looking great in photos, follow the posing tips below to turn things around:

Master the art of smiling.

A smile can do wonders on how you look in your photos. It can light up your face and lift your cheekbones to give you a more youthful look. More importantly, it will convey the kind of emotion you or your photographer wants to express.

As such, practice different smiles in front of a mirror. If you want to show off genuine happiness in your pictures, learn to smile with your eyes. Try crinkling your eyes, parting your lips slightly, and tilting your chin to achieve this look. If you want to convey love and affection in the photo, tilt your head sideways when smiling.

Your headshots will look amazing when you know how to express the right emotion with a natural smile.

Avoid looking directly at the camera.

Unless the photographer tells you, do not gaze directly into the camera. Avoid staring out of the corner of your eyes as well. When you do, your eyeballs become more exposed and increase the amount of white in your eyes. And this always results in unappealing photos.

For better results, always look at something behind the camera. By doing so, your eyes will look more alive. You will appear more attractive in the photo as well.

If you need to rock the dreamy look during a photoshoot, stare at something far behind the camera. If the photographer wants you to give off a more intimate vibe, follow your nose with your eyes or stare at an object that is near the camera.

Learn to elongate your neck.

Although this can be hard to do since it feels unnatural, you will look taller and poised in your pictures when you extend your neck even just a little. It will help you avoid the dreaded double chin as well.

Again, practicing will help you master this. Stand in front of a mirror and look at yourself as you stand or sit normally. Next, roll your shoulders back, thrust your face forward, and keep your chin up.

Observe your neck as you do these two poses alternately. When your shoulders are rolled back and your face thrust forward, your neck and face look slimmer. And this will translate to better, more beautiful photos.

Use your hands to frame your face.

For portrait photos or headshots, you can use your hands to create shapes that will emphasize your face and convey various emotions.

To show off a lazy or sleepy look, place the heel of your hand to your forehead and tilt your chin upwards while directing your gaze downwards. If you want to appear deep in thought, rest your chin gently on the back of your hand.

But when using your hands, make sure your palms don’t look flat. It should only be their sides that appear on the photo as well.

Keep your arms and hands loose and relaxed.

For full-body portrait photos, always bend your arms naturally. Place your hands around your waist or in your pockets if you haven’t practiced any poses using them. These always look great on any picture.

Another classic position you can try is the hands-on-hips and neck over shoulder pose. This will make you look more confident and appear like a professional model.

If you need to show your hands, always keep your middle finger lower than the others while relaxing them with a slight curve. Avoid bunching your fingers together and showing the back of your hand since they will look big and fat on photos. Again, show only the sides of your hands since they are small and better to look at.

Know how to slouch the fashionable way.

If you are modeling clothes in a photoshoot, you will be asked to do the slouching pose. This curved, inward slouch allows you to highlight the lines or tailoring of a particular outfit.

To get this pose correctly, you have to know the difference between slouching and hunching over first. You need to know where and when to stop when bending so that your posture will make you look relaxed and natural and not someone with a bad back.

However, make sure you don’t lean back too much while slouching since your stomach will appear bigger.

Additionally, you will get this pose right by putting uneven weight on your feet and bending the foot supporting the lesser weight naturally.

Be creative and playful.

Finally, photos that show your natural side are always eye-catching and attention-grabbing. As such, be creative and work with what you have to get interesting pictures.

For instance, if you are wearing a flowy dress, toss it in the air or twirl the hemline. If you were given a hat or there are flowers, use them creatively so that you will have a few whimsical photos. You can also play with your hair to match the mood of the shot.

Whatever you do, remember to avoid covering your face with your prop or hair. Otherwise, the photo will be unusable.

As an additional tip, find out the theme of the photo shoot and what you will be wearing once you booked a job. In case you were hired to sell something, get as much information as you can about the product. You can get all these details from your modeling agency in Melbourne if you already have one.

When you have all these details, practice poses that will compliment or showcase the product or purpose of the photoshoot. Choose the best ones that won’t hide or put them in the background.

Finally, remember that knowing how to pose correctly in front of the camera will help you get amazing photos. However, you also need to listen to and follow the instructions of the photographer, your agent, and your client or employer during the photo shoot. You have to work with them to ensure your photos meet their vision so that they can be used for their intended purposes.

More importantly, when you show that you can take instructions, you create a reputation for someone easy to work with. This will help you greatly as you build your career as a professional print model.

Diamond Wedding Bands

When it came time for my husband and I to pick out our wedding bands, we were both markedly clueless about the entire process, let alone knowing anything about jewellery in the first place. The only thing I’d ever been sure of when it came to jewellery preferences was that I did not, nor have I ever very much enjoyed yellow gold coloured baubles. If I was wearing jewellery, it was going to be white gold or platinum. Other than that, I was pretty much walking around in the dark trying to figure out just what exactly one does when buying wedding bands.

That’s why I have always been so happy with retailers who have well-maintained and detailed websites. ReveDiamonds.com is a great example of this. Instead of waltzing into a jewellery store and declaring my utter lack of knowledge and experience, or awkwardly and hesitantly peeking into display cases hoping not a soul would realize my inexperience, I started my education online–comfortably.

Reve Diamonds, for example, has an online gallery of beautiful diamond wedding bands, but it also has very detailed descriptions, and even sections in which the company outright teaches you what you need to know. Explanations about the diamonds themselves, explanations about the different types and styles of band, explanations about engraving and personalization–everything!

By the time my husband and I were ready to actually go shopping in the physical retail world, we didn’t have that apprehension or that creeping sense of inferiority. And knowing what you’re both looking for and looking at is incredibly helpful! No one was pulling the wool over this gal’s eyes, that’s for sure!

My engagement ring is a square setting atop a channel band, so the diamond wedding band option that would be most compatible with my engagement ring is a channel diamond wedding band. Now, with channel bands, the diamonds are usually small and are always inset into the actual band. There are two types of channel bands–a full and a half. The difference being that a full channel band has the diamonds inset around the entire circumference of the band, while the half channel, pretty obviously, only spans half the band.

And because I was armed with this information, I was able to make an informed, reasoned, tasteful, and cost effective purchase, for both me and my husband. My husband’s style is much more traditional. So, he prefers yellow gold, and a solid, expansive, manly-looking wedding band. A small amount of filigree at the very top and bottom of the ring aside, it is a very sturdy-looking ring sans any diamonds, personalization, or engraving. He’s happy, so I’m happy. I’m happy, so he’s happy. And it all started with some good, old-fashioned research on high quality jewelry. Thanks for all the hard work–it paid off, at least for us!

5 Ways to Improve the Air Quality in Your Home

The quality of your indoor air is very important for your wellness. For instance, you can avoid air-based problems such as allergic reactions and other negative health impacts by doing things that improve the air quality in your home. Here are five methods that you can use for better indoor air.

Keep Pollutants Out

Preventing pollutants from entering your home is the best way to improve your home’s air, according to the US Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA). So you should use source control to prevent bringing products with a high level of chemical emissions into your dwelling. To start keeping pollutants out, you can use an online tool to check whether the products that you use or plan to use are safe for you and your family.

Use Charcoal

Activated charcoal, which is charcoal that has been reheated, can improve your home’s air quality by attracting pollutants from the air to its surface. To use this technique effectively, you need to buy charcoal that does not have any additives, so using your barbeque charcoal, which has a lot of additives, is not a good idea!

You can use bamboo charcoal products or some additive-free pieces of activated charcoal and leave them in your rooms to clean your indoor air. Rule of thumb: As your charcoal products will become less effective over time, put them outside once each month for a few hours to reactivate.

Ventilate Your Home

b7c406ed81a9c28edecc317c6f23d073.jpeg

Increasing the quantity of outdoor air in your home is another way to improve your indoor air. If you live in a rural area where there is a lower level of air pollution, you can ventilate your home by simply leaving the windows open for a while each day. Using this method is more complicated if you live in an urbanized area in which the outdoor air is polluted, but you can still leave your windows open early in the morning to air out your home.

Maintain Your HVAC Unit

Maintaining your HVAC unit can help you to enjoy good indoor air. One way of doing this is to have a maintenance plan for your system. Your unit needs its air ducts and its air filter cleaned regularly. You also need an HVAC service to check for leaks and damaged components and handle any necessary repair or installation. Hiring professionals to maintain your unit can help you to avoid expensive repairs in the future and extend your unit’s lifetime in addition to improving the air in your dwelling.

Grow Plants Indoors

Having indoor plants can be an enjoyable method of purifying indoor air. A NASA study found that certain plants are very effective in ridding the air of pollutants. Peace Lily, English Ivy, and Boston Fern are some of the plants that you can use to improve your indoor air quality.

There are many ways in which you can improve the air quality in your home. Using these tips can also make your dwelling more comfortable. So start improving your home’s air quality today!

4 Reasons You Should Consider Upgrading to a Programmable Thermostat

Thermostats are essentially the gatekeepers to indoor comfort. They decide if the furnace is warming things up, the air conditioner is cooling things off, or nothing is running at all. Old-fashioned thermostats require constant checking and changing to maximize their usefulness. These days, programmable thermostats allow you to easily set the temperature to your comfort, the time of day, or even the season. Here are four reasons programmable thermostats can be a huge benefit to your home.

Lower Energy Bills

31823792407_3e94668f18.jpg

Besides a mortgage, energy bills are often the largest recurring family expense. Homeowners can save up to 30% on their energy bills by using a programmable thermostat. Programmable thermostats can help lower your energy bills by using a schedule to adjust the temperature of your home throughout the day. In the winter, you can set the home temperature cooler when you are work, allowing the furnace to run less. In the summer, give the AC a break by setting the home temperature a bit higher while you are away from the home. Your programmable thermostat can restore your home to your preferred temperature right before you arrive, allowing you to save money without sacrificing comfort.

Optimal HVAC Performance

HVAC systems can run more efficiently when paired with a programmable thermostat. When it is set on a schedule, your HVAC won’t run all day long, reducing wear and tear on major components. This means a programmable thermostat can even help your older HVAC last longer.

Consistent Comfortable Indoor Temperature

Have you ever gotten stuck sitting in a hot, stuffy room in the summer or a freezing room in the winter? Old-fashioned thermostats often leave homeowners waiting for the HVAC to catch up to temperature changes. This results in inconsistent indoor temperatures and an uncomfortable home. With a programmable thermostat, your HVAC will run consistently throughout the day, maintaining the temperature you set in the schedule. Should the weather be different than expected, many thermostats allow you to adjust your thermostat using your smartphone.

Spend Less Time with your Thermostat

With an old-fashioned thermostat, you need to change the temperature when you leave the house for the day. When you get home you need to adjust the temperature again. On the way to bed, you will need to stop yet again and adjust the thermostat. Smart programmable thermostats allow you to avoid the need for constant thermostat checking. Thermostats controlled by a smartphone or your voice make it easier and faster to maintain a comfortable home. This allows you to spend more time enjoying the comfort of your home and less time in front of your thermostat.

We all want our homes to be as comfortable as possible without breaking the bank. Programmable thermostats allow you to have the best of both worlds. With their ease of scheduling and the ability to maximize HVAC efficiency, programmable thermostats are a beneficial addition to any home.

Tiny Houses Need Proper HVAC Installation Too

Many people today opt to downsize into tiny homes, which typically measure between 300 and 500 square feet. They are easier to maintain and less expensive to live in than traditional homes. There are tiny home DIY kits that allow homeowners to build their own homes without much building experience. However, if you do choose to build your own tiny home, it is best to use a professional HVAC contractor for your heating and cooling systems.

HVAC professionals will take into account that there are special considerations when installing heating and cooling systems into tiny houses. Tiny home HVAC systems can differ from what a traditional home needs.

Determining the Best System

efee22b05e3c8d7ef9cf1761902852d0.jpeg

There are different HVAC systems for use in tiny homes. These include a furnace with duct work, mini split systems, wall-mounted electric heaters, and air conditioning units. There are pros and cons to each system and an HVAC professional can work with you to determine which is the best based on your location. For example, needs in Arizona are different than in Pennsylvania. The size of the tiny home and your budget also make a difference. If you choose a traditional furnace, you may still need to investigate air conditioning options.

Traditional Furnace and Ductwork

If you choose a traditional heating system, you’ll need to have ducts installed. This can be tricky because ductwork is bulky and can take up valuable space. Besides considerations for the ductwork, furnaces require indoor space for the furnace itself plus clearances around the unit. A professional HVAC technician can provide the optimal layout of the ducts as well as offer suggestions on the type of furnace that would best heat the space without overheating it.

Installation of Ductwork

Proper duct design and installation is critical to your system working properly according to the US Department of Energy. Ducts that aren’t sealed can cost you hundreds of dollars per year on wasted energy and may result in uneven heating. An added concern in tiny homes is the location of ductwork. When not properly planned, ductwork can severely affect storage space.

Ductless Systems

You might find a ductless system, or mini-split, the best option. Mini splits are mounted on the wall or ceiling with an outdoor heat pump and provide heating and cooling. They take up less space and are energy efficient, without requiring ducts. Mini splits must be installed by a professional, certified HVAC technician who has a refrigerant license. These are only available for tiny homes that are stationary.

No matter which heating and air conditioning system you decide is best for your situation, a professional HVAC technician who is familiar with tiny homes is a must. Tiny homes have extra considerations, such as location, size, budgeting considerations, and personal preferences.

Whether your tiny home is stationary or on a trailer that can be moved also impacts the type of system you can use. An HVAC technician can help you select the right system, plan where the system should be installed, install ductwork that doesn’t interfere with valuable space, and maximize your comfort all year.

Pest Inspection: 3 Key Benefits of Hiring a Pest Control Company

The average homeowner spends around $2,000 a year on optional maintenance. For the most part, professional pest control is considered optional maintenance. In reality, investing in pest control services should be something you view as a priority.

Without the help of professionals, you run the risk of allowing harmful pests into your home. Allowing a company to perform a thorough pest inspection can provide you with peace of mind. Before hiring a company to do this work, be sure to consider the experience they have and get a feel for what they charge.

Here are some of the benefits that come with hiring a pest control company.

1. The Experience Needed to Perform Pest Inspections

Some homeowners think that running down to their local hardware store and picking up tons of pest control chemicals is the only way to treat an infestation. In reality, these chemicals can be extremely dangerous if used improperly.

The only way to truly get rid of pests is by hiring professionals to find out where they are gaining access. Sealing off these access points is the only to keep the pests from returning.

A homeowner will not have the tools or the experience needed to get this information on their own. Rather than making mistakes during this process, you need to work with a professional pest control technician.

2. Professional Pest Control Saves You Money

The main reason most homeowners cite when asked why they handle their own pest control is cost. Some people think that DIY pest control can save them money, but this is far from the truth.

The pest control chemicals you find at your local hardware store are not only expensive, but they are also ineffective. This means that you will spend a lot of money without seeing the results you are after.

Paying professionals to handle this work is the only way to avoid these issues. Before hiring a company to perform these services, schedule a few onsite estimates. These estimates will provide you with all of the information needed to hire the best pest control company.

3. Consistency Is Important

Keeping pests away is only possible if the treatments are consistent. Simply spraying for bugs, ants or rodents once will not produce the results you are after.

Most pest control companies provide their clients with very affordable monthly services. By keeping the pest control treatments consistent, you won’t have to worry about bugs or rodents returning.

Don’t Rush Through the Pest Control Company Selection Process

Getting pest inspection and extermination services will require you to find the best professionals. Getting impatient and rushing through this hiring process may lead to mistakes being made. This is why you need to weigh all of your options before hiring professionals for this job.

Mobile Applications for Businesses: 5 Reasons Why an App Can Help Your Business

The internet has exploded in popularity in the last decade. The problem is, it’s hard to stand out from the crowd now.

That’s where mobile apps come into play. Believe it or not, 42% of small businesses have their own mobile app today.

But with all the hype, is investing in a mobile application the right choice? Keep reading to learn five things that make mobile applications for businesses make sense.

1. Provide More Value to Your Customer

With all the noise in the marketplace today, it’s hard to stand out from the crowd. But one of the biggest ways to do so is by providing more value to your customers than your competition. A mobile app will help you do that.

Your mobile app can provide coupons and rewards for people who shop at your store. This will reward them for being loyal and give them a reason to keep coming back.

2. Get a Direct Line of Communication

Having a sale is a great way to promote sales. The problem is getting in front of your customers. A mobile app gives you a way to reach your customers directly to promote your offers.

Your mobile app will allow you to push a button to reach all your customers who have your app. Email is the only thing comparable for that kind of visibility online.

3. Build Your Brand

People buy from businesses they like. If you rely on other platforms to show your customers who you are, then you’ll be disappointed about your lack of control.

A mobile app is like a blank canvas for you to customize however you like. By giving your customers a great experience, you’ll enhance your brand perception and build customer loyalty. It will help you stand out in crowded markets.

If you’re looking for someone to help you with this process, Nexrage Studios custom software can give you what you need.

4. Get Better Customer Engagement

Have you ever gone through a complicated refund procedure? How about wasting time on the phone booking a table at a restaurant? There are a lot of bad customer experiences out there.

A mobile app can solve this problem for you. Build these features into your applications to give your customers a better experience and help your customer engagement.

Not only that, it saves your business time dealing with these issues.

5. Make More Profits

All of the above points are great on there own. But all together, they provide a great customer experience. This matters because, in the end, it creates more profit.
