3 Reasons To Hire a Commercial Pest Control Company

One of a business manager’s most trying responsibilities is pest control. You see, pests like rats, mice, roaches, and bedbugs are still, unfortunately, a part of the normal working day in America.

Municipal laws dictate that all commercial buildings must have licensed pest control specialists. They should visit at least once a year to be considered in compliance.

The government often only recognizes “official” pest control companies. Hence, your business needs to use certified commercial pest control.
And, if one of these insects gets away and starts interbreeding, professional pest control is the only way to stop them.

Below, we list the most important reasons why you should hire a commercial pest control company to fight rodents and other pests instead of doing it yourself.

Commercial Pest Control Companies Can Help Keep Your Business Free of Pests

There are many reasons to hire commercial pest control services to take care of your business’s pest problem. A professional company will have the experience and knowledge to get rid of pests quickly and efficiently.

They will also be able to advise you on how to prevent pests from returning in the future. A commercial pest control company will use safe, effective methods to get rid of pests. This will protect your customers and employees from harmful chemicals.

Pest Control Companies Can Help You Protect Your Business from Pest Damage

If you own a business, it is important to protect it from pests. Pests can cause damage to your property and products, and they can also pose a health risk to your employees and customers.

A commercial pest control company will inspect your premises and identify any potential pest problems. They will then develop a treatment plan to address the problem. The plan may include baiting, trapping, and spraying.

A pest control company such as greencitypestcontrol.com will also provide you with educational materials to help you prevent future infestations.

Pest Control Companies Can Help You Comply with Health and Safety Regulations

There are several reasons to hire a commercial pest control company to help you with health and safety regulations.

First, these companies have the experience and expertise to help you identify potential health and safety risks. Second, they can help you develop and implement effective pest management practices. This is to reduce the risk of exposure to health and safety hazards.

Lastly, they can provide you with support and guidance to ensure that you are compliant with all relevant health and safety regulations.

Commercial Pest Control Is the Way to Go

If you are looking for a way to get rid of pests, then you should consider hiring a commercial pest control company. They are experienced, they use safe methods, and they are effective.

3 Factors to Consider When Choosing a Window Replacement Company

service man installing window with measure tape

Did you know that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) estimates that a home in the U.S. can save between $126-$465 per year when they replace their windows? If you are starting to notice unusually higher electricity bills and are feeling drafts by your windows, then you might want to consider replacing your windows.

We have written this blog post to share the top things you want to look out for when hiring a window replacement company.

1. Experience

Since your windows will help keep the weather and bugs outside, you want to choose a company that knows what they’re doing. You want a reputable company that has enough experience where they know what to recommend and have an understanding of the best new windows for your specific needs and budget.

A company like Windows Advise will know what window options to recommend, and you won’t have to worry about hidden fees. You can read more about windowadvise.com here.

2. Check Their Reviews

Take the time to check what others are saying about the company you are thinking of using. Thanks to the internet, you can look for Google Reviews and similar websites where real people leave their honest opinions. Keep in mind that you can’t please everyone, so there might be a few negative reviews, but the key is to see if more customers are pleased than not.

You can also ask friends and family for some recommendations. Usually, if someone you know has had their windows replaced by a certain company, they can give you their honest opinion if they were satisfied with the installation and how their customer service was.

3. Licensed and Insured

Along with having experience, you also want to make sure that you ask if the company is licensed and insured. Certain states have licensing requirements for window installers. Take the time to research your specific area so that you know what certificates the company must have by law.

When a company takes the time to be certified, it also means that they are registered locally. Make sure to not only take their word for it, but you have the right to ask for proof of their certifications.

Checking if they have insurance is another huge must. There are always risks involved when you are doing home improvement projects. The company should have sufficient insurance coverage in case they accidentally cause extra damage to your home or if someone were to get hurt on the job.

This will give you peace of mind that if something were to happen, you wouldn’t be left paying substantial amounts out of pocket or having to deal with your own home insurance company.

Window Replacement Company

Hopefully, with our tips above, you can now find the best window replacement company for your home. Choosing the right windows will help lower your energy bill and can also help improve your curb appeal if you currently have older windows.

Feel free to keep browsing our home section for our latest tips and tricks.

Why Should We Use Solar Energy in the Sunshine State?

Solar energy refers to the radiant energy emitted by the sun, which can be used to generate clean electricity. With this in mind, it’s clear to see why the aptly-named Sunshine State is so well-suited to harnessing the energy of the sun. In Orlando, for example, there are approximately 233 sunny days per year, well ahead of the national average (205 days).

In this blog post, we will ask why should we use solar energy in Florida. More and more homeowners in the state are making the switch to solar energy by installing solar panels on their properties.

In fact, Florida ranks in 3rd place nationally for the highest cumulative solar capacity, with more than 8,200 megawatts installed to date. Let’s look at why you should join the masses and install solar panels on your property.

Huge Potential to Save Money

For most homeowners interested in using solar, the ability to save tens of thousands of dollars on energy bills is the driving argument. Let’s take Orange County as an example and look at the potential cost savings for homeowners there. For a property with an average monthly utility bill of $127, the recommended system size would be 5.7 kW.

The upfront cost of solar panel installation would be between $10,000 and $12,200 after applying the 26% federal solar tax credit. The net profit, which is the savings over 25 years minus the upfront costs, is estimated at between $21,700 and $26,500. This highlights the incredible potential to save using solar energy.

It should be noted that solar panel systems, with proper care and maintenance, can last for 40 to 50 years. This highlights how solar panels are an excellent long-term investment for households.

Help to Protect the Environment

Of course, there are incredible environmental benefits to switching to solar energy. Solar panels do not produce greenhouse gases when generating electricity, which is in stark contrast to fossil fuels such as coal, natural gas, and oil. Other environmental benefits of solar energy include:

  • Reduce water usage
  • Reduce air pollution
  • Reduce your households’s carbon footprint
  • Power new technologies such as electric vehicles
  • Reduce our collective reliance on fossil fuels

If you are interested in learning more about the benefits of switching to solar energy in Orlando, you can check out this location here.

Why Should We Use Solar Energy in Florida?

There are many good reasons to switch to solar energy. The two most important for homeowners are the cost savings and the environmental positives. Being able to save on energy bills while also supporting a green planet is what makes solar energy so important today.

If you are interested in making the switch to solar in the Sunshine State, we recommend that you speak to an experienced and professional solar panel installation company for more information.

How to Fix a Leaky Bathtub Faucet in Just 3 Steps

10% of U.S. households have leaks that waste over 90 gallons of water a day. For example, it’s not uncommon for water to leak from pipes and other plumbing fixtures.

Not only will it drive up your utility bill, but it can also lead to mold growth. That’s not all, it can also damage the floors, walls, as well as the foundation.

Are you having issues with your bathtub faucet? Not sure what to do?

If so, you’re at the right place. We’ll be going over how to fix a leaky bathtub faucet below. Keep reading to learn more!

Step 1: Turn Off the Water Supply

Start by shutting off the water supply to the bathroom. The shutoff valve is typically located under the sink or in the basement of the house. Simply turn it clockwise; that’ll restrict the flow of water.

Once you’ve done that, turn the handle to the ‘on’ position. That’ll allow any remaining water from the pipes to drain into the bathtub.

Next, remove the faucet handle. To do that, take off the decorative cap. From there, use a screwdriver to loosen the screws in the center of the handle.

Step 2: Assess the Parts

Use an adjustable wrench to remove the faucet stem and seat. Once they’re out, check the condition of the washer (the small rubber piece at the tip of the stem). If it’s cracked or worn out, a leak can occur.

To replace the washer, loosen the screw that’s holding it together with a socket wrench. From there, you can replace the old washer with a new one.

If the faucet is still leaking after replacing the washer, you may need to replace the stem. Loosen the bolts with an adjustable wrench so that you can take it out and put in a new one with new bolts.

If that doesn’t solve the problem, you may need to replace the entire spout. Depending on the type you have, you may want to use a digital caliper for measuring (this guide has more information).

Step 3: Replace the Handle

Slowly reconnect the stem (make sure to tighten it with a wrench beforehand). Next, screw in the stop tube. Once it’s tight, align the cover plate with the screw holes.

Tighten the screws with a screwdriver and slide in the faucet handle. From there, put on the handle cap.

Finally, turn the water supply back on. You want to double-check that the leak is gone by running water from the bathtub faucet.

Know How to Fix a Leaky Bathtub Faucet

And there you have it—a guide on how to fix a leaky bathtub faucet. If anything, you just need to gather the essential tools. Why pay for house repair when you can do it yourself, right?

A Brief Guide on Grants for Buying a Home

First time homebuyer program and model of house.

Just over 32 percent of home buyers in the US are first-time homeowners. When wages don’t keep up with rising prices, it becomes more challenging to get into the market.

Are you a first-time or repeat home buyer interested in grants for buying a home? Here’s some information about the types of assistance available and what they might cover.

Down Payment Assistance

There are many grant programs for homes in the US today. Classified as down payment assistance programs (DPA), they usually cover all or part of the down payment on your home purchase. You might get one if they are available in your area and you meet their qualifications.

State agencies and a variety of nonprofits offer DPA grants or programs. These programs lower the amount you have to save for a down payment. They target buyers who wouldn’t otherwise be able to get into the housing market, so there may be a maximum income to qualify.

Candidates for the grants usually need a minimum credit score to qualify. Each program is slightly different, so you’ll need to read the fine print to see if you meet their requirements. There may be a limit to the amount of money in the program.

You might need to wait for these funds to be refreshed. Some programs only offer loans that will need repayment at some time in the future. You might need to take some homeownership courses or counseling to meet their qualifications.

Some programs target the support toward first-time buyers, so you wouldn’t be able to use them if you’ve owned a home in the past. Usually, you need to live in the home you are buying.

First-Time Home Buyers

There are quite a few home grants available in some states. Often these first-time home buyer grants cover the closing costs as well as your down payment.

The eligibility process for first-time buyer programs is usually quite specific, and you may need to repay some or all of the amount they provide. You may qualify for access to lower interest rates, which will reduce your monthly payments.

Good Neighbor Grants

The federal government offers a fantastic program for specific groups of buyers interested in buying under the HUD program. These are grant programs for homes in developing neighborhoods, listed by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

If you work in one of the following positions, you may qualify for 50 percent off your home’s list price.

  • Law enforcement officers
  • Firefighters
  • Emergency medical technicians
  • Teachers working pre-kindergarten through 12th grade

You have to commit to living in the home for three years, but it’s an excellent opportunity to get into the housing market.

Research Available Grants For Buying a Home

It’s exciting when you know there are many grants for buying a home in the US. You can do your research to discover ones in your local area. It’s surprising how a little bit of information can change your opportunity to buy a home.

HVAC Issues: 4 Major Signs Your HVAC Is on the Fritz

Male technician repairing air conditioner outdoors

HVAC units have become a staple of modern homes in the United States, providing year-round comfort. They offer effective air conditioning, heating, and ventilation, helping our homes to become more energy-efficient and have cleaner air. With proper care and maintenance, they can last for up to 25 years.

If your HVAC unit is on the fritz, it’s essential that you schedule swift repairs. HVAC issues often happen at the least opportune time and can disrupt your household’s daily routines. In this blog post, we will highlight 4 common HVAC problems that you should keep an eye out for.

1. Strange Noises

When your HVAC unit is working normally, you will hear a gentle humming noise. Hissing, banging, clicking, or buzzing noises all point to an issue within the unit. Depending on the type of noise you are hearing, there could be any number of issues affecting your unit.

These may include ductwork issues, refrigerant leaks, loose parts, faults with electrical components, loose wiring, or clogged air filter.

2. Increases in Your Energy Bills

A spike in your energy bills is a sure sign that something is awry with your HVAC unit. If your latest bill has skyrocketed, it’s important to schedule an inspection of your HVAC unit.

If your unit is having to work overtime to keep up, not only will this waste energy, but it also points to stress within the unit itself. Your unit’s expected lifespan may be affected unless you get to the source of the issue.

3. Strong Odors Near Your Unit

Unusual, lingering smells near your HVAC unit are another sign that there is an issue. It may be a burning smell or have a rotten or moldy odor.

There are many potential causes for an HVAC unit to have strange smells, so it’s important that you schedule a professional checkup to get to the source of the issue.

4. Spike in Indoor Humidity Levels

An HVAC unit helps to keep your home comfortable by removing humidity from the air. If your home feels stuffy or sticky, it’s a sign that the unit is not working as well as it should. Keep an eye out for HVAC humidity problems throughout the year.

4 Signs You Need a Roof Inspection

Is your roof in good condition? Are you sure?

A number of things can compromise the integrity of your roof. This includes snow, ice, hail, high winds, and other forms of inclement weather. However, pests, falling debris, time, and the sun can also damage your roof.

For this reason, it’s recommended to schedule a roof inspection at least once a year. Although, we also recommend inspecting your roof after bouts of severe weather. Detecting signs of damage can help you prevent bigger, more expensive issues down the road.

But what are the signs that you should opt for a professional roof inspection?

Excellent question. Keep reading for four indications that you should contact a roofing contractor sooner rather than later.

1. It’s Been a While

If you can’t remember the last time you had a roof inspection, odds are you’re overdue. Traditional asphalt roofs last around 25 years. Higher-quality roofs will last even longer.

However, this doesn’t mean you can go 25 years worry-free. Your roof will only have a long lifespan if you maintain it properly. This means getting annual inspections.

2. There Are a Lot of Granules in Your Gutter

As asphalt roofs age, they lose their granules. This is normal. However, an excessive amount of granules in your gutter is a sign that you need an immediate roof inspection.

Those granules are there to protect the shingles. Bald and bare shingles will quickly become damaged by the sun and other natural forces. If not taken care of, this will lead to water leaks and other damages.

If you have a questionable amount of granules in your gutters or you can see that your asphalt shingles are in bad shape, visit searchsiding.com to find the best roofing company near you.

3. You’ve Noticed Water Damage

One of the most obvious signs that you need a roof inspection is if you have water damage in your home. Water damage resulting from a bad roof includes:

  • Water leaks, puddles, and excess moisture in your attic
  • Signs of water damage in the ceiling (bubbling, discoloration)
  • Signs of water damage in the drywall (discoloration, soft spots)

If you notice water damage, your situation is dire. Contact a local roofing company immediately to schedule a leak assessment.

You can also ask for a free quote to identify your roof inspection cost. In this type of situation, the sooner you act, the better.

4. Visible Damage

Finally, you probably need a roof inspection if you can spot damaged shingles, flashing, or facia from the ground. Look for balding or bare shingles.

You might also see missing shingles, warped shingles, damaged flashing, etc. If you can see these types of issues from the ground, the damage is probably much worse up-close.

Do You Need a Roof Inspection?

If any of the scenarios outlined above sound familiar, it’s time to schedule a roof inspection. Contact your local roofing contractors today to get a free inspection and estimate of repairs. And remember, it’s better to be proactive to avoid expensive damages.
